About RoomFit AR

A simpler way to plan your space.

About RoomFit AR

RoomFit AR is a student project exploring how phone-based scanning and augmented reality can help people make furniture decisions. We want to make it easier to visualise furniture in your home without needing 3D modelling skills or complicated software.

Why we started

Choosing furniture involves more than finding something you like. It can be difficult to picture how a piece will look alongside your existing furniture, how much space it will take up, or where it should go.

We started this project to help people explore those decisions before committing to a purchase or moving heavy furniture.

What we’re building

We’re developing a website that allows users to scan furniture with their phone, generate a 3D model, and save it for future use.

Using their phone’s camera, users will be able to preview a model in their surroundings and walk around it to see it from different angles. We also aim to support basic size comparisons using estimated furniture dimensions and measurements of the available space.

Who it’s for

We’re designing RoomFit AR for people furnishing a new home, rearranging a room, or considering a new piece of furniture.

Whether you are trying to find a place for a favourite chair or planning a different living-room arrangement, our goal is to help you explore your options more clearly.

The team behind the project

We’re a student team exploring how interface design, 3D scanning, and augmented reality can support everyday furniture planning.

Our focus is on creating a straightforward experience that people can understand and use, even if they have never worked with 3D models before.
